Application Requirements
Applicants must complete the online Application Form (all fields must be completed or applicant will not be able to submit) and include the following Supplementary Materials as specified:
Research Abstract (included within the application, not as a separate attachment)
Research Proposal (excluding abstract)
Applicant's biosketch, inclusive of publications, if applicable
- NIH Biosketch or a completed copy of the RSP applicant's biosketch template linked below. Use of the template is not required. Either option will suffice.
Mentor's biosketch and co-mentor(s) biosketch, if applicable
- NIH biosketch or a completed copy of the RSP mentor’s biosketch template linked below. Use of the template is not required. Either option will suffice.
Letter of support from mentor
- This should include: mentor's track record of productivity, funding, and success with prior trainees; detailed description of the mentoring plan, including resources allocated to the proposed research project, provision of protected time and available laboratory facilities
Letter of collaboration (only required if you have co-mentorship) outlining how the mentors will work together
Detailed budget and completed budget summary (no template provided)
Certification of Faculty Appointment is required, using the template provided
Current or Pending Applications for Funding, using the template provided

Letter of support from the department chair or division chief
- This letter will document the institution is willing and has the ability to commit the resources necessary for the applicant to complete the proposed research, including sufficient protected time
Clinical Trial Support Letter
- This is only relavant if your application includes a clinical trial. A letter of support from a collaborator, consultant, or other contributor to a research project. This letter should be providing third-party evidence that the project has support from respected individuals and organizations.

This is an optional upload field. As such it is not required that you upload anything here, however, this is an opportunity for applicants to detail any co-mentorship arrangements, how your team will support the proposed research, or other support mechanisms which may not be covered in the proposal or mentor letter.
If a co-mentorship arrangement is in the best interest of your proposed study then it is permissible for applicants to have more than one mentor, however, only one can be listed as the primary mentor in the application fields.
