Research Proposal Guidelines
The Research Proposal should be a clear and concise presentation of the applicant's proposed research.
Proposals investigating Gilead product(s) are not eligible for funding through the Research Scholars Program. Proposals investigating Gilead product(s) should be submitted for review under the Externally-Sponsored Research Grant Program through the ESR online portal.
The Proposal must include:
Research Proposal
Proposal must be single-spaced (using 11 point Arial font or larger) and limited to 5 pages total, not including the bibliography or budget. Research proposals over 5 pages will not be accepted. Please include your bibliography with the research proposal but do not count these pages in the 5 page total.
The proposal must include
- Title of the proposed research
- Community Need: The specific HIV PrEP implementation challenge being addressed, the community population affected, and why the Community Health Organization (CHO) is appropriate.
- Community Engagement Plan: Describe how the CHO contributed to the research question, study design, implementation approach and dissemintation plan. If applicable, how the academic insitution and CHO will collaborate, make decisions, share data and resolve implementation barriers.
- Research and Implementation Plan: Should be used to describe the following:
- Objectives
- Study Design
- Target population
- Outcomes
- Intervention or implementation strategy
- Measures of success
- Community Dissemination: Describe how findings will be shared back with the community.
- Research timeline and references can be submitted in addition to the 5 pages. References should ideally not exceed 20.

Animal or human subjects
If the research project includes investigations on human subjects, a copy of the submission to the institutional review board (IRB) must be submitted prior to award. Award will be contingent upon IRB approval.
If the research project involves laboratory animals, the researcher must certify that he/she will comply with all laws and regulations pertaining to care and use of animals in research prior to award.
The Community Health Organization remain responsible for compliance with applicable privacy and human-sibjects regulations.
